Fly Fishing Pagosa Springs, Colorado

Here are some more pics from last week!
The Jones family's first fly fishing trip.
Matt with his first trout on the fly.
 Kilie with a nice rainbow.
Dawson's trout flipping from my hand, but lands in the net.

The fishing has been very good the last few weeks. On the local waters we have been seeing rising fish to caddis and mayfly’s every day.  Some of the best fishing with dry flies have been between 11:00am – 2:00pm and then again in the late afternoon till dusk. Steam flows have been good compared to last year, but we still need rain to keep the stream levels up and to help the fire fighters in Colorado. Hopefully we will have the monsoon season starting the first part of July.

The fishing on the ranch has been excellent, lots of big strong fish. We were surprised to see it fishing so good after all the low water last year. I found several back water pools with a bunch of fingerling brown trout. It is great to see so many year classes of trout after some low water years.

Back from FL just in time for some great June fishing.

Florida, specifically the Everglades were great again, and we are planning on running some late October - possibly early December trips. November can be a great top water month for Snook, and October is great for Redfish. Here are some pictures from The Everglades!!!

Back to Colorado. The rivers have been dropping and starting to become wadeable for the average fisherman. Some of our streams have been fishing very good as well as the tailwaters on the Lower San Juan River. On some of the private ranches on the blanco grasshoppers have been working great. their are lots of early grasshoppers out, may be due to a few dry years. As I am typing this report it is raining, and it looks like the high country is getting the most of it, just sprinkles here. The water flow are higher than last year and the lake went up 7 feet this week (that is good news).

I would like to welcome or newest fishing guide - Dave Leibson. I guided with Dave a few days last year out at Ranch Pinoso on the Blanco. Dave has already been doing Float and Wade trips for us this spring. Welcome aboard Dave!
